目前比利時國家隊正在意大利備戰 ，而盧卡庫在離隊後將先回到比利時國內接受治療 ，之後再返回切爾西俱樂部 。馬丁內斯表示 ：“他有些疲勞 ，他感覺明天的比賽自己無法100%恢複 ，他的肌肉組織酸痛 。考慮到球員的利益 ，做出的每個決定都涉及俱樂部和國家隊雙方的醫療團隊 。顯然，雙方醫療人員相互理解 ，我們都希望對球員最好 ，每一個決定都是在和俱樂部達成一致的情況下做出的 。”
本賽季阿紮爾在皇馬的出場時間並不多，但盧卡庫今夏回歸切爾西後立即成為了絕對主力 ，目前已經為切爾西打進4球 。下一輪英超聯賽 ，切爾西將在客場挑戰布倫特福德 ，如果盧卡庫無法及時康複 ，對切爾西來說將是一個壞消息 。
事實上，比利時國家隊對這場歐國聯三四名決賽也並不看重，比利時國門庫爾圖瓦此前就公開表示 ：“周末對意大利的這場比賽毫無意義 ，在歐國聯爭奪第三名是沒有意義的 。我不明白我們為什麽要踢這場比賽 ，我會把這當做一場友誼賽 。”
