北京時間9月8日 ，李毅國足12強賽第二輪0-1不敵日本 ，复盘賽後前國腳李毅複盤比賽，中日之战認為國足的先丢指導思想和打法沒問題。
李毅表示 ：“縱觀整場比賽，改变其實我覺得國家隊這場的比分指導思想和賽前的準備重視程度還是不錯的 ，之前也說過 ，李毅這場場麵可能會非常被動 ，复盘但這就是中日之战雙方實力差距沒有辦法 。現在球迷有些疑問 ，先丢前60分鍾場麵很被動 ，改变最後30分鍾換上歸化球員 ，比分場麵有些轉變，李毅有些球迷覺得為什麽不先上來踢四後衛，复盘用這些球員呢 ？中日之战我覺得國家隊的指導思想和打法是沒有問題的，如果開場就用4後衛或者這些進攻型球員的話 ，我覺得可能未必是0-1 ，可能場麵上比前60分鍾好看一些 ，但是結果有可能跟第一場一樣 ，那心態可能就崩了。”
“如果球不丟 ，到下半場60分鍾我們換上這些歸化球員 ，有可能會改變比分 。其實我們最後30分鍾後還是有機會，最後10分鍾時 ，是不是換一個高中鋒更好。我們最後還是打不進去 ，對方也收回去了 ，我們就是要搏 ，就是兩邊往中間起球去搶 ，看看第二點能不能製造一些機會 。”
“通過這兩場比賽 ，國家隊也收獲了一些東西 ，用將近一個月的時間去總結 ，咱們之前踢這種高水平比賽太少 。有這兩場基礎 ，國家隊教練組對自己會有一個認知 ，對球隊也有一個認知 ，一支球隊不可能隻有一種打法 ，麵對不同對手要有不同打法。”李毅說道 。
