就在申花與河北隊賽前幾小時 ，国足國足剛剛公布新一期40強賽備戰26人名單 ，面临门曾誠的补充名字赫然在列 。作為一名34歲的选择老將 ，曾誠是题韩名單陣容內國際比賽經驗最豐富 、資曆最深的佳奇國腳之一 。國足主帥李鐵此前也曾對曾誠予以高度評價 。他說 ，“曾誠隻要身體允許 ，一定是國家隊的一員 。”
11日淩晨 ，曾誠通過個人社交平台曬出自己在病床上的照片。盡管傷痛刺骨 ，他還不忘傳遞正能量 ，以樂觀的姿態祝福國家隊及隊友們 。
隨著曾誠重傷 ，一道現實問題擺給了國足主帥李鐵 。考慮到40強賽後半程采用集中賽會製 ，且賽程相對密集 ，李鐵特意征調了4名門將參加40強賽賽前備戰衝刺 。除了曾誠之外 ，還有顏駿淩、劉殿座 、董春雨 。相對而言 ，顏駿淩、劉殿座的能力得到普遍認可 。那麽，李鐵會否補充征調其他門將參加此次備戰呢 ？
就在曾誠受傷後 ，已經有媒體或球迷呼籲國家隊補招來自廣州城隊的年輕門將韓佳奇 。不過需要說明的是，國足教練組是在60餘人的備戰大名單中 ，遴選出26人組建本期備戰陣容的 。共有6名門將躋身大名單 ，除了上述4人外 ，還有來自泰山隊的王大雷 、國安隊的鄒德海。王大雷此前已經連續多次缺席國足集訓，至於鄒德海在國安隊已經難覓出場機會 。這樣看來 ，國足教練組在做補充人員的選擇上的確也需要慎重考慮一番 。
