But shoppers looking for the colorful 2021 iMac on sale ahead of the company's Mac-heavy "Scary Fast" hardware event Monday might run into some trouble: According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, a well-known Apple analyst, Apple Stores have had a difficult time keeping it in stock. The situation is equally dire at some third-party retailers. (At the time of writing, all of the models available on Amazon were sourced from sketchy sellers.)
We did manage to find the base configuration of the current iMac on sale at B&H Photo for $1,149 as of Oct. 26 — that's $150 off its suggested retail price of $1,299. The only catch is that the discount exclusively applies to its most boring color variant: Silver.

It's a tad underpowered for heavier tasks like video editing and graphic design, but according to former Mashable tech reporter Brenda Stolyar, it's "snappy" enough for everyday browsing and entertainment.
That M1 chip also affords this iMac a sleek and lightweight form factor, which was something that especially impressed Stolyar in her testing. (You can easily carry it from room to room if necessary — it makes a great family computer.) Once you tack on its 1080p camera, pretty 4.5K Retina Display, and the matching Touch ID-equipped Magic Keyboard that ships with it, "you've got yourself the ideal at-home iMac," Stolyar wrote in her review.
The base configuration includes a 7-Core GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.
