先是正孔轉會專家迪馬濟奧表示“孔蒂執教熱刺已進入倒計時” ，隨後另一位記者羅馬諾則確認孔蒂與熱刺的谈合談判已進入了最後階段 ，而孔蒂也已經準備好說“YES”了，约双由於這兩位知名轉會專家的签约消息源可信度不低 ，孔蒂執教熱刺的消息看上去很有可能 。
英格蘭權威媒體天空體育也證實，孔蒂本人今日將抵達倫敦 ，與熱刺高層進行麵對麵洽談 ，而他也被看好將會接受合約。《全市場》則跟進補充了合約信息，他表示孔蒂和熱刺正商談一份1年半的合約，賽季結束後雙方將會視合作效果決定是否提前續約 。
現年52歲的孔蒂此前曾在英超切爾西執教過2個賽季，他主打的標誌性三後衛體係帶領藍軍2年內拿下1個英超冠軍和1個足總杯冠軍，此番若最終執教熱刺 ，也將是孔蒂時隔三年重回英格蘭足壇。
值得一提的是，在今夏熱刺選帥過程中曾一度考慮聘請孔蒂執教 ，但雙方最終由於種種原因未能談妥 ，這一次時隔4個月熱刺主動“糾錯”之下 ，看上去即將入主托特納姆的孔蒂也將給英超帶來一股新的“三後衛”旋風 。
