現年62歲的薩裏並非職業球員出身 ，早年他曾長期在銀行工作。1990年 ，31歲的薩裏開始了自己的教練生涯。最開始的時候 ，他在意大利低級別聯賽累積經驗 。2015年，薩裏開始執教那不勒斯，帶隊兩次獲得意甲亞軍 。2018年 ，薩裏受邀前往斯坦福橋，成為英超豪門切爾西的主教練，並帶隊拿下歐聯杯冠軍。一個賽季後 ，薩裏從英超回到意甲 ，成為尤文圖斯的主教練 。雖然帶隊獲得意甲冠軍 ，但在歐冠賽場上 ，斑馬軍團被早早淘汰出局 。賽季結束後 ，薩裏被解雇 ，隨後賦閑至今 。
