本場比賽C羅在上下半場補時階段各進一球 ，实吹幫助曼聯客場2-2戰平 ，肩梅積7分繼續在F組排名榜首 。明捧梅西在C羅打進絕平進球後 ，罗莱因论进罗比萊因克爾發推特稱讚 ：“簡直令人難以置信 ，实吹C羅又一次做到了。肩梅足球史上最偉大的明捧梅西終結者之一 ，非凡的罗莱因论进罗比球員 。”不過著名主持人皮爾斯-摩根回複稱 ：“之一？实吹把這去掉吧。”
萊因克爾隨即回應稱：“在進球方麵，他（C羅）和貝利 、穆勒 、迪斯蒂法諾 、梅西並列 。很難比較不同時代的球員 ，因為規則的變化 ，而且比賽條件對現代球員要有利很多。”
英格蘭名宿萊因克爾一向是梅西的支持者 ，盡管C羅本場比賽表現出色 ，但在萊因克爾心中，C羅也並不比梅西更出色 。不過在今年夏天C羅和梅西都轉會加盟了新球隊 ，本賽季C羅在曼聯已經打進9球 ，而梅西在巴黎聖日耳曼隻打進3球 。
