本賽季至今 ，踢曼谈利曼城在英超 、市德足總杯和歐冠三條戰線上均有奪冠的物浦可能性，利物浦同樣如此，渣叔争冠最且克洛普的球隊已經拿到了聯賽杯冠軍 ，甚至有拿到四冠王的機會 。在英超賽場上，曼城比利物浦高出6分，但紅軍少賽一場 ，且雙方將在今年4月份有一次直接較量，所以聯賽冠軍的懸念非常大 。需要指出的是 ，曼城和利物浦包攬了過去四個賽季的所有聯賽冠軍，並將爭冠標準提升到逆天的100分左右 。

就在賽前 ，曼城主帥瓜迪奧拉就說過 ，接下來每一場比賽都是決賽 ，一旦丟分 ，就可能無緣聯賽冠軍 ，“毫無疑問，接下來的每一場比賽都極其困難 ，有的球隊為爭四而戰 、有的球隊而爭奪歐戰資格而言 、有的球隊為保級而戰 ，每場比賽都會非常難踢 ，但你必須贏下去，在英超賽場上擊敗每一個對手 ，尤其是利物浦 ，他們幾乎不會丟分，我們必須全力以赴，一旦丟分的話 ，那麽我們很難成為英超冠軍 。”
