針對庫蒂尼奧被棄用 ，西班牙媒體給出了兩種說法 。拒绝加泰媒體Esport的库鸟說法相對比較驚悚，該媒體宣稱前方記者表示庫蒂尼奧拒絕在這場比賽中替補出場 。又没不過以庫蒂尼奧的登场性格 ，這種說法未必是或遭哈準確的 。
西班牙幾大主要的體育報 ，則都認為庫蒂尼奧是因為熱身時的態度問題而被塞爾吉棄用的 。在法蒂受傷後 ，塞爾吉立刻要求庫蒂尼奧 、巴爾德和阿布德進行熱身 。庫蒂尼奧雖然第一個站了起來，但隨後的肢體語言顯得非常不對勁。巴西人慢慢把外套放在椅子上 ，然後慢悠悠地踱了幾步，之後才開始進行慢跑 。多家西媒稱塞爾吉認為庫蒂尼奧存在態度問題 ，此時他本該積極投入到熱身中 ，以便盡快替補出場幫助球隊 。最終 ，得到這次替補機會的是巴爾德 。
在賽後被問及庫蒂尼奧時 ，塞爾吉簡直宣判了他的“死刑” ：“在最近這段時間內，我一直盡量讓所有球員都盡可能保持狀態 。我認為近期沒怎麽出場的球隊，以後也不太可能有太多機會 。”塞爾吉這話，顯然是在建議哈維繼續封殺庫蒂尼奧。巴薩高層都希望，這位身價1.6億歐元的隊史第一水貨能在冬季轉會期趁早離隊。如果新土豪紐卡願意收留庫蒂尼奧的話 ，巴薩絕對不會設置障礙 。
