北京時間6月12日淩晨1點 ，中國隊將在世預賽40強賽小組賽上對陣馬爾代夫。强赛棋国據來自國足的足回总算消息，球隊絕對主力吳曦和艾克森 ，谋篇都很可能會在這場比賽中高掛免戰牌 。布局
目前國足陣中 ，沪媒艾克森 、强赛棋国吳曦 、足回总算韋世豪和明天各有一黃在身 。谋篇按照世預賽的布局規則，累積兩張黃牌的沪媒隊員就要自動停賽一場 。在李鐵的强赛棋国戰術體係中 ，吳曦和艾克森都是足回总算非常關鍵的隊員。吳曦作為中場核心 ，谋篇承擔著承上啟下的布局重任 ，是球隊攻防轉換的節拍器 。艾克森則是球隊進攻端的支點 、橋頭堡 。
下一場比賽 ，國足將對陣小組最強的敘利亞 。一旦吳曦、艾克森再拿一張黃牌 ，就將無法出戰與敘利亞的比賽 ，這對球隊必然會造成不小的損失 。而馬爾代夫整體實力較弱 ，中國隊全取3分並不會有太大的意外 。所以，中國隊通過對陣馬爾代夫這樣的弱隊 ，來進行陣容上的輪換 ，以保存實力 。
中國與馬爾代夫的賽前新聞發布會 ，主教練李鐵攜蒿俊閔參加 。前兩場比賽 ，蒿俊閔都是替補出戰，這其實就是一個強烈的信號 ，蒿俊閔將頂替吳曦出戰 。世預賽40強賽小組賽改成賽會製，國足每4天就就要打一場比賽，所以每場比賽並不是孤立存在，球隊需要對所有比賽進行通盤考慮 ，進行統籌安排 。
經過前兩場比賽 ，國足的主力替補已經明晰 ，但李鐵延續了自己出任國足主帥後一貫的風格 ，在公開場合非常維護自己的隊員 。與馬爾代夫之戰的賽前新聞發布會比較簡短，李鐵仍反複強調在自己的球隊中沒有主力與替補之分 ，相當照顧球員的情緒 。“我一直告訴我的隊員 ，國家隊沒有主力和替補之分，隻會根據對手的情況來安排陣容 ，這場比賽也是一樣，比賽陣容會根據賽後最後一次訓練的情況來確定 。”李鐵還強調 ，他會選擇最適合打這場比賽的球員出戰 。
