當時埃裏克森在球場上因為心髒驟停倒地 ，第句隊友迅速招呼隊醫入場 ，该哭隨後經過除顫器的还笑话幫助 ，埃裏克森在球場上的埃里意識開始清醒 ，隨後就說出了“我回來了 ，我隻有29歲”的話 。之後隊醫以及歐足聯組委會的多方運作 ，及時將埃裏克森轉移到了哥本哈根當地的醫院 。
而透露這個細節的是德國籍醫生延斯-克萊納菲爾德 。克萊納菲爾德表示 ，除顫急救工作進行結束後30秒 ，埃裏克森就睜開了眼 ，隨後克萊納菲爾德詢問 ：“很好，你為了我們回來了麽？”埃裏克森的回答給了克萊納菲爾德足夠的信心，丹麥中場的心髒驟停情況沒有繼續惡化 ，而且意識清醒 。事後克萊納菲爾德也感慨 ：“遇到心髒驟停還能搶救成功 ，概率本來就不高 。”
