英格蘭隊右後衛位置上人才濟濟 ，英格影主帥索斯蓋特帶上了4名右後衛出征歐洲杯 ，兰首引起了外界的场热熱議 。但不幸的身赛伤欧是 ，首場熱身賽對陣奧地利 ，折损洲杯效力於利物浦的大将德受右後衛阿諾德就因傷下場 ，這對於英格蘭隊來說是阿诺個不好的兆頭 。
英格蘭已經公布了最終26人大名單 ，蒙阴其中有4名右後衛入選，英格影他們分別是兰首阿諾德 、特裏皮爾 、场热裏斯-詹姆斯和沃克，身赛伤欧這4名右後衛都具備在英格蘭隊打首發的折损洲杯能力 ，其中裏斯-詹姆斯和沃克剛剛跟隨俱樂部打完歐冠決賽 ，大将德受目前還沒有回到英格蘭隊報到 。阿诺對陣奧地利的首場熱身賽 ，主帥索斯蓋特派上阿諾德出任首發右後衛 。
阿諾德在上半場剛開始不久就完成一次有威脅的射門 ，當時阿諾德接應凱恩的長傳，帶球突入禁區右側起腳抽射 ，球稍稍高出橫梁 。隨後阿諾德多次通過主罰定位球為隊友製造機會 ，雖然沒能貢獻助攻 ，但是阿諾德在右路的表現還是可圈可點。
當全場比賽進入尾聲時 ，阿諾德在後場右路開出界外球 ，隨後接應隊友的回敲後大腳長傳，但是這次長傳過後，阿諾德疑似出現了拉傷的情況 ，他走到場邊接受隊醫簡單的治療後又返回場內 ，結果卻領到一張黃牌 ，原因是他沒有得到主裁判允許就返回場內 。然而 ，阿諾德無法堅持比賽 ，沒有經過換人，就直接走下了球場 ，並且被工作人員攙扶著走回更衣室 ，看起來傷勢不輕。
由於英格蘭隊右後衛競爭非常激烈 ，盡管阿諾德進入最終26人名單，但能否踢上主力還是未知數 ，再加上現在不幸受傷 ，令他的歐洲杯前景蒙上了陰影 ，首場熱身賽就出現人員受傷的情況 ，對於英格蘭隊來說也不是一個好的兆頭 。
