本賽季西甲目前戰罷34輪 ，馬競以76分領跑積分榜 ，皇馬和巴薩以2分之差分裂二三位 。在西甲第35輪中 ，巴薩將坐鎮主場迎戰馬競 ，而皇馬則在主場對陣積70分排名第四的塞維利亞 ，兩場比賽的結果在很大程度上將直接決定本賽季的西甲冠軍歸屬 。
