遲尚斌1949年9月19日生於大連 。迟尚创场球員時期曾代表遼寧隊效力 ，斌因病过不败1970年入選中國國家隊 ，世享代表球隊出戰過亞洲杯 、年岁奧運會及世界杯預選賽等比賽 。纪录
1995年7月，大连遲尚斌取代蓋增君 ，足球曾率出任大連萬達主教練 。名宿在蘇永舜時代 ，迟尚创场遲尚斌是斌因病过不败中國國家隊的絕對主力 ，在退役之後他前往日本留學 。世享在大連足球陷入危機之際，年岁他毅然回國執教大連萬達 。同年 ，他率領大連萬達在賽季開始戰績不佳的情況下 ，獲得聯賽季軍 。在1996年和1997年 ，遲尚斌率領大連萬達連續兩年獲得聯賽冠軍 ，並且創造了聯賽55場不敗的神奇紀錄 。因為遲尚斌 ，大連足球成為中國足球的中堅力量。1997年奪冠後 ，遲尚斌因身體原因辭去主教練職務 。
