北京時間12月9日淩晨 ，西官宣奇销英超豪門切爾西在官網宣布 ，尔维尔接此前在對戰尤文的受膝术英歐冠比賽中受傷的奇爾維爾將會在本周進行膝蓋十字韌帶的手術 。而根據《獨立報》與《GOAL》的盖手預測 ，奇爾維爾也會因此賽季報銷 。媒赛
在新賽季開戰後 ，季报奇爾維爾發揮出色 ，西官宣奇销也成為了圖赫爾手下的尔维尔接絕對主力球員。在11月份歐冠主場4-0大勝尤文圖斯的受膝术英比賽中 ，這位球員也得到了首發出場的盖手機會，盡管幫助藍軍大勝 ，媒赛但是季报奇爾維爾卻在比賽中與拉比奧進行身體對抗時受傷離場。
當時切爾西與奇爾維爾進行協商 ，西官宣奇销對於膝蓋前十字韌帶的尔维尔接傷勢采取保守治療的方式，然後根據恢複情況決定是受膝术英否接受手術治療 。而就在英國當地時間本周一，奇爾維爾也接受了第二次的傷情檢查 ，檢查的結果不樂觀 ，因此切爾西也在官網宣布了奇爾維爾將在本周進行膝蓋十字韌帶手術 。
奇爾維爾受傷後 ，阿隆索成為了切爾西左邊翼衛的唯一選擇 ，盡管薩烏爾 、奧多伊以及普利西奇都可以踢這個位置，但是圖赫爾對三人的發揮不太滿意 。英國的《獨立報》以及著名的足球媒體《GOAL》都表示 ，奇爾維爾手術也意味著賽季報銷 ，因此切爾西也渴望在冬窗引進一名邊翼衛補充陣容。
據悉，切爾西對於目前在埃弗頓失去出場機會的迪涅非常關注 ，另外米蘭的特奧-埃爾南德斯也是藍軍的選擇 ，但是相比較於前者，切爾西在冬窗就簽下米蘭的絕對主力難度太大。另外外媒稱 ，切爾西的另外一個選擇是召回外租考文垂的伊恩-馬特森和外租裏昂的埃默森 。
