萊科於2021年初正式加盟上海海港，出生於1978年的萊科在成為職業教練之前，是一名優秀的職業足球運動員 ，他曾長期效力於西甲的馬拉加足球俱樂部和比甲的布魯日足球俱樂部 ，還曾作為克羅地亞國家隊一員參加過世界杯 。36歲退役後 ，萊科開始了自己的職業教練生涯。他先後執教於比利時的奧哈瓦裏 、聖圖爾登 、布魯日和安特衛普 。
2017-2018賽季，萊科率布魯日獲得比甲聯賽冠軍 ，他自己也成為了當賽季比甲最佳教練；2019年夏天 ，萊科接過阿聯酋艾因俱樂部的教鞭；2020年5月 ，萊科重回比甲，成為安特衛普主帥 ，並帶領球隊獲得2019-2020賽季比利時杯冠軍。
上賽季 ，萊科率領上海海港在中超聯賽中取得了13勝6平3負，進42球失14球的成績 ，最終獲得聯賽亞軍。在足協杯的比賽中萊科也率隊闖進決賽 ，不過卻0-1不敵山東泰山再次獲得亞軍 。（DD）
