當時 ，遇持博努奇的劫尤反應異常平靜 ，裝作取下手表，手制當劫匪伸手要拿走手表時，服悍匪博努奇一記重拳將對方打倒在地，博努隨後又撲上去補了一拳。劫匪明顯是沒有預見到這樣的場麵 ，愣了一下就開始往同夥的方向跑去。
據《米蘭體育報》報道 ，當時歹徒一邊跑還一邊叫：“你在幹什麽 ？你瘋了嗎？我要開槍打你了 ！”而博努奇就像沒聽到這些話一樣 ，撒開腳丫子猛追 。直到聽見妻子的哭聲後才停止腳步 ，跑過來安慰妻子 。
博努奇勇鬥歹徒的事件遭到曝光後受到人們的稱讚 ，尤文的球迷和都靈的市民對博努奇給他封上了“勇士”和“城市守衛者”的稱號 。但是博努奇不希望媒體炒作此事 ，他表示自己並不想刻意相當英雄，當時的行為完全是下意識的 。
