歐洲杯E組第2輪 ，瑞典瑞典隊憑借福斯貝裏的赢下也满意點球 ，1比0力克斯洛伐克 。半场2戰4分的斯洛他們 ，幾乎已經鎖定了一個淘汰賽的伐克席位 。斯洛伐克雖然輸球 ，主帅但從小組中突圍的没赢希望卻依然存在 。
瑞典隊的瑞典進球功臣福斯貝裏總結道 ：“這是一場奇怪的比賽 ，我們在開場後的赢下也满意表現很好，但隨後進攻卻陷入了停滯 ，半场中場休息回到更衣室，斯洛我們在更衣室裏有一次不錯的伐克交流 。在下半場比賽當中 ，主帅我們如願踢出了我們的没赢侵略性，也創造出更多機會 ，瑞典並最終製造了那粒改變比賽的點球 。”
賽後的新聞發布會上 ，瑞典隊主帥安德鬆也提出了類似的觀點 ：“上半場我們的進攻非常不流暢 。”他也談到打進致勝點球的福斯貝裏 ：“對於福斯貝裏來說，或許他應該更加主動地持球推進 ，或許我們可以為他創造出更多的機會 ，讓他更多地通過持球來幫助球隊 。他今天的表現不錯 。雖然有時我們也會進行輪換，但他確實是近幾年來球隊的第一點球手 。這粒進球對他來說也是一種釋放。”
輸掉比賽後 ，斯洛伐克隊長哈姆西克顯然很失望 ：“真的很可惜 ，如果他們沒有通過點球得分 。對我們來說這將是一個寶貴的平局 ，下半場地我們打得太被動了，這讓我們付出了代價 。”談到周三與西班牙隊的末輪比賽，哈姆西克倒還沒有提前失去信心：“我們還有機會。西班牙是本組最強的球隊 ，也是這屆杯賽的奪冠熱門 ，這場比賽對我們是一個巨大的挑戰，我們必須要從這場失利中好好恢複 。”
雖然沒有取勝，但斯洛伐克主帥塔爾科維奇仍然讚揚了球隊 ：“我們贏了波蘭 ，差點逼平瑞典 ，我可以滿意了 。我們得知道對手是誰，他們在FIFA排名第18 ，還剛剛戰平了西班牙 ，無論團隊還是個人都強於我們 。對我來說最重要的是，我們打出了訓練中要求的東西 ，我看到了球隊的進步 。”
