北京時間8月8日18:00 ，梅西出席了告別巴薩的续追现还發布會 。在梅西的逐自演講結束後 ，現場進入了提問環節 。确定去記者首先問及梅西的梅西梦想没未來 ，梅西作答 ：“我現在很難回答 ，续追现还因為我現在還處於震驚之中 。逐自畢竟我在巴薩已經這麽多年了 ，确定去我唯一能說的梅西梦想没 ，就是续追现还會繼續追逐自己的夢想 。以後的逐自 ，以後再說吧。确定去我可以確定的梅西梦想没是 ，我不會留在西甲了 。续追现还從我的逐自角度而言 ，我要離開了。雖然去年我說過 ，‘隻要巴薩要我 ，我就會留下’ 。但我們無法預言未來。”
“巴薩是我第一個俱樂部，也是最重要的俱樂部 。我對巴薩的感情不會變 ，巴薩見證了我的成長。盡管我要離開巴薩了，我也不知道會去哪裏 。這個轉變的確很突然 ，讓我很震驚 。”梅西繼續說道 ，“去巴黎 ？我還沒有確定的去向 ，我沒和誰有過確定的說法 ，不過的確存在著接觸 。”
“在我離開之後 ，俱樂部當然會有改變 ，我也不知道誰會繼承10號，我們有很多優秀球員 。”梅西繼續說道 ，“我在巴薩取得的一切成績都已經是過去時了 ，我在這裏的確有過很多高光時刻 。我在這裏結婚 、成家 、成為父親 ，我也有過太多優秀隊友 。”
