在上一輪英超聯賽中 ，遭拳曼城主場2-3負於熱刺，混战福登在比賽中踢滿全場。警方介入而在賽後幾個小時後 ，福登這段福登和家人遭遇攻擊的受辱双方視頻就被發布到網上 。當時福登和母親還有其他人來到一個娛樂場所 ，母亲在進入一個包間前和另一批人發生了衝突 ，挺身有人辱罵福登是维护“混蛋” 。
福登的遭拳母親從包間走出維護兒子 ，先是混战和對方爭吵 ，之後她推搡了一位男子 ，而對方立即一拳將福登的母親打倒 。隨後福登和朋友也衝出包間 ，在走廊上和對方的幾名男子開始相互攻擊 ，甚至還有人取下一旁的滅火器作為武器 。
視頻引發了球迷們的關注，曼城俱樂部隨後發布官方聲明稱：“俱樂部已經知道社交媒體上傳播的一段視頻 ，顯示福登和他的家人受到了騷擾和襲擊 。我們對辱罵的性質以及隨後對福登一名家人的襲擊感到震驚 。我們將繼續給予福登及其家人所需要的支持和幫助 。”
而大曼徹斯特警方則表示 ：“我們注意到社交媒體上傳播的一段視頻 ，顯示昨晚在曼徹斯特AO中心內發生了衝突。我們正在就此事進行進一步調查。”
21歲的福登出自曼城青訓 ，17歲時就代表曼城一線隊參賽 ，上賽季開始成為曼城主力球員 ，本賽季福登已經為曼城打進9球 。福登還是英格蘭國腳 ，在去年夏天隨三獅軍團參加了歐洲杯 。不過福登在場外生活問題不斷 ，在2020年他在代表英格蘭國家隊比賽期間在酒店私會冰島女模特 ，結果被國家隊除名 ，而本賽季福登也曾因為違規去夜店被主帥瓜迪奧拉排除出比賽名單 。
