本澤馬此前因為涉嫌敲詐國家隊隊友被德尚拋棄，协早多年來一直未能進入國家隊陣容中，本泽被当但是冤又有打在本屆的歐洲杯之前，德尚卻出人意料的成背將本澤馬重新召入國家隊。在歐洲杯中，盡管法國的表現令人失望 ，但是本澤馬卻發揮不錯 。
而就在日前 ，著名的記者羅曼談起了法國足協的一些內幕 ，他表示在歐洲杯前，法國足協就有了球隊表現不佳的甩鍋思路——本澤馬當替罪羊。這位記者如此說道 ：“法國足協的內部有人說，如果我們搞砸了，就讓本澤馬背鍋 。但是現在法國足協的高層非常生氣 ，因為本澤馬在本屆歐洲杯的表現非常出色 ，是球隊的楷模 ，法國足協無法指責本澤馬 。”
