盡管贏得美洲杯的赛全胜东次數不是第一 ，但是道主巴西卻擁有兩大傲人的紀錄 。第一個是 ，自從1997年殺入美洲杯決賽以來 ，巴西連續五次參加美洲杯的決賽全部取得了最後的冠軍 。第二個是 ，巴西曾經五次舉辦美洲杯的比賽，而五次作為東道主球隊奪冠 ，東道主身份贏得冠軍的成功率為100% 。
本屆美洲杯上 ，由於疫情的原因，巴西臨時成為了東道主球隊 ，另外桑巴軍團也一路過關斬將殺入了最後的決賽 。而按照以前的兩大紀錄看 ，巴西在本屆美洲杯再次奪冠的概率極高 。但是最終的結果卻非常紮心 ，巴西隊被迪馬利亞的一個挑射擊敗 ，失去了冠軍獎杯 。不僅如此，這也使得巴西的兩大紀錄畫上了句號 。
需要指出的是 ，巴西決賽的輸球有些冤枉，從數據上看 ，巴西擁有絕對的優勢 。射門次數上 ，巴西13次領先阿根廷的6次 。控球率上看 ，巴西59%領先阿根廷的41%。傳球次數上巴西488次，而阿根廷僅為345次 。傳球成功率上，巴西87%，阿根廷為79% 。
