問：評價一下上場比賽鄭智回歸的表現？上場他拿到黃牌這場可能無法上場 ，會不會影響這場比賽？中場配置上有什麽調整 ？
卡納瓦羅：“鄭智還在繼續學教練員的課程 ，停不停賽都不會影響我們。作為教練員來說 ，準備比賽不能把所有的精力投入到一個球員身上 ，麵對富力這樣的對手 ，也不可能因為一個球員的存在就能解決問題 。”
隨後，卡納瓦羅還談到了即將開幕的東京奧運會 ，意大利人表示 ：“奧運會應該是所有運動員夢想參與的重大賽事，但在足球圈對奧運會一直有點低估 。參與奧運會是每個運動員的最高夢想 ，獲得獎牌更是能將所有人的目光聚焦到你身上來 ，有幸參與其中對運動員的一生都有重大意義 。我參加過美國奧運會（1996年亞特蘭大），除了比賽結果不是特別理想 ，這段經曆還是非常難忘的。參加奧運會對每個國家適齡球員來說 ，可以積累非常好的大賽經驗。”
96年亞特蘭大奧運會上 ，卡納瓦羅以主力身份代表意大利男足出征 ，小組賽三戰分別0比1不敵墨西哥 、2比3不敵加納 ，2比1取勝韓國 ，最終小組第三無緣出線 。
