俄羅斯與烏克蘭衝突發生後，西方世界給予了俄羅斯嚴厲的瓦罗製裁 。而在足球領域 ，将俄界杯俄羅斯也遭遇了禁賽等處罰 。驱逐确决近日 ，出世前金球先生卡納瓦羅在接受采訪時也談起了這一話題，个正他表示將俄羅斯驅逐出世界杯是卡纳正確的決定。

隨後，卡納瓦羅談起了意大利即將要麵對的世預賽歐洲區附加賽：“我們在羅馬對戰瑞士的時候丟掉了晉級名額 ，如果意大利連續兩次錯過世界杯，這就是一場災難 ，我認為曼奇尼可以找到晉級的辦法 。在意大利與世界杯之間，可能葡萄牙會是阻礙 ，但是土耳其也不是好惹的 ，而在這之前我們需要在巴勒莫擊敗北馬其頓 。”
