新賽季開戰之初 ，祝贺尤文依舊被認為是奪冠的大熱門 ，而國米則被公認為是尤文爭冠的最大對手。進入到2021年以來 ，國米一度贏得聯賽11連勝 ，而尤文則多次陰溝裏翻船 ，積分落後太多。
最終在意甲第34輪 ，國米得以提前4輪贏得意甲 ，終結了尤文對意甲的統治。盡管尤文與國米在意大利是死敵球隊，但是尤文卻非常大度的在官方推特祝賀國米：“恭喜國米成為2020/21賽季意甲冠軍 。”
而尤文主席阿涅利也同時祝賀了國米主席張康陽 ：“幹得好 ，張 ！為你感到高興 ，也自豪成為你場上的忠實對手和場下的朋友。我們會回來的 。”
