據了解 ，郑智执教對於俱樂部母公司遭遇的恒大或困境，卡納瓦羅也通過各種渠道有所了解 。卡纳开始不過 ，瓦罗他仍希望這個賽季的執教工作能夠善始善終 ，因此打算帶隊打完本賽季中超餘下8輪比賽 ，並爭取以冠軍教頭身份離開 。
然而 ，恒大所麵臨的財務危機的嚴重程度可能超出了卡納瓦羅的想象 。俱樂部為節省各種開支 ，不得不與卡帥分手 。經過雙方友好協商 ，卡納瓦羅同意了俱樂部提出的分手請求。
據了解，雖然卡納瓦羅已很難重返中國執教，但俱樂部無論如何都要支持廣州隊打完這個賽季的所有賽事 。
另有消息稱 ，現年41歲的老隊長鄭智將會再次擔任執行主教練 ，他將臨時組建一個教練團隊，帶隊參加接下來的足協杯和中超比賽 。
恒大此舉既為了維護中國職業足球形象 ，亦為保持中超聯賽完整性 。此外 ，也是給俱樂部協同各有關方麵找尋新出路贏得時間和條件 。
廣州足球俱樂部同時希望，中國足協能充分考慮到廣州隊麵臨的生存危機，將此前收取的4億元引援調節費退給俱樂部 ，用以維持俱樂部及球隊未來幾個月的正常運轉及員工薪酬發放 。
