曼聯在新賽季引進了C羅 ，刚过這位超人氣球星的分钟回歸也讓曼聯球迷十分興奮。而隨著C羅的大批回歸 ，曼聯在球場上也確實贏了幾場漂亮球 。曼联但是球迷最近一段時間 ，曼聯成績不佳，提前退场最近的比赛三場英超聯賽一平兩負 。盡管對戰亞特蘭大的歐冠小組賽逆轉對手 ，但是紅魔一度0-2落後 ，逆轉有些僥幸 。
在英超第9輪的比賽中 ，曼聯在主場迎戰利物浦 ，這也是英格蘭足壇著名的雙紅會 ，也引發了更多球迷的關注 。但是曼聯在這場比賽中的發揮猶如災難 ，在上半場比賽結束時就以0-4落後對手 。
半場休息時 ，就有許多紅魔球迷提前離開了老特拉福德球場。下半場比賽開戰後 ，曼聯的發揮沒有任何的起色 。比賽第50分鍾 ，薩拉赫打入一球 ，曼聯0-5落後利物浦 。比賽第61分鍾 ，博格巴因為踩踏凱塔被紅牌罰下。0-5落後而且少打一人，曼聯此戰是輸球又輸人。
而這也使得曼聯球迷更加失望 ，更多的紅魔球迷起身離開球場 。從場外的航拍視頻看 ，在比賽第65分鍾的時候 ，老特拉福德球場外就出現了浩浩蕩蕩的球迷群 。
