根據賽程 ，报放小組第四輪與第三輪是手搏死战“背靠背”的對陣。三天前 ，青年廣州隊在全場“死守”的军生情況下0-1不敵傑誌隊 ，在小組賽前三輪戰罷全敗 ，广州一球不進且淨吞六蛋 。队对國安舊將德揚點球破門，阵杰志海連續三場亞冠比賽場場進球的报放同時，也打入了個人在亞冠賽場創紀錄的手搏死战第39球。
0-1的青年比分不像北京國安之前0-7敗給川崎前鋒時那樣刺眼，但廣州青年隊全場僅有1次打門 ，军生還是广州偏靶而出的射門 ，角球也隻有1個 ，反觀對手傑誌隊完成了24次射門，角球多達11個 ，射正次數也有6次 。小組賽前三輪 ，廣州隊有兩場比賽是全場隻有1次射門 ，且無射正；總共踢了270分鍾 ，也不過才有2次打在門框範圍內的射門，可見球隊的被動和以守為主的策略思想 。
另一方麵，這支青年軍在踢完的三場比賽中 ，丟掉首球的時間在越來越推後 ，從第一場第15分鍾便城池被破 ，到第二場21分鍾 ，第三場則是第36分鍾 。這與對手的實力從強到弱有一定的關係 ，但也與這批小將逐漸進入亞冠這樣洲際頂級賽事的節奏 ，對主教練布置的戰術執行能力逐步提升有關。
鑒於目前廣州隊在小組中的形勢，實際上本場與傑誌隊的比賽隻要不勝就確定被淘汰出局 。盡管被淘汰是在預料之中的 ，但主教練劉智宇如何布置戰術卻值得關注 。是繼續“守”個不太難看的結果然後出局，還是放手一搏冒著可能會被擅長打防守反擊的傑誌隊打穿的風險 ，這既是考驗球員們的球商 ，也是考驗主教練的大智慧。
