顯然 ，如此言論肯定會一石激起千層浪 ，但性格如此的巴斯勒卻絲毫不避諱自己的觀點 。他表示 ：“一些球員應該考慮他是否該退出（國家隊），以及是否再次為國家隊效力 。因為在國際比賽的舞台上 ，大家已經看到 ，一些球員應對起來已經有問題了 。”
至於巴斯勒口中的“一些球員”究竟是誰 ，巴斯勒非常直白，“克羅斯 、京多安和胡梅爾斯都應該退出，他們也確實都在考慮這一點 。托尼（克羅斯）已經率先行動 ，其他兩人並未宣布（退出國家隊） 。我不否認他們曾經的水準 ，隻是單純認為他們在最高水平國際比賽上的時代已經結束了 ，所以這三人都應該後退一步了 。”
如果三人都離開國家隊 ，留下的空白誰來填補 ？巴斯勒認為 ，要給弗裏克信心 ，因為這位教頭很會提攜年輕人 ，“我們肯定會在國家隊看到新麵孔 ，他將吸收U21國家隊的球員進入國家隊的一線隊。”
