北京時間5月5日 ，歐冠半決賽 ，离开曼城在占據優勢的巴萨杯已情況下卻遭皇馬逆轉 ，這家英超豪門又一次無緣歐冠冠軍 ，后再而瓜迪奧拉自從離開巴薩後，未染也再沒有品嚐歐冠冠軍的指欧滋味。
瓜迪奧拉離開巴薩後 ，次捧先後執教拜仁和曼城 ，年前這兩隊實力都很強大 ，瓜帅冠上在聯賽中也總能奪冠 ，离开但在歐冠賽場 ，巴萨杯已卻始終與冠軍無緣 。后再值得一提的未染是 ，在離開巴薩後瓜帥已經4次倒在半決賽 ，指欧而且都是次捧倒在西甲球隊腳下。
在執教拜仁時 ，瓜迪奧拉連續止步半決賽 ，先後被皇馬、巴薩和馬競淘汰。執教曼城 ，第一個賽季止步16強 ，之後3個賽季止步8強 ，上賽季曼城打入了歐冠決賽 ，又輸給了切爾西 。本賽季 ，曼城止步半決賽 。
瓜迪奧拉上次奪得歐冠還是在2010-11賽季 ，已經過去了11年了 ，他隻能等待下賽季再創造奇跡了 。這是瓜帥教練生涯第6次倒在了半決賽 ，包括巴薩時的2次。
在賽後 ，曼城主帥瓜迪奧拉接受采訪，瓜帥無奈地表示 ：“我在歐冠總是遭遇慘敗 ，這對我們來說很艱難 ，我們無法否認 。我們離決賽那麽近 ，我們在上半場踢得不夠好 ，我們沒有找到自己的節奏 ，但在歐冠這很正常 。”
