警方指控門迪在去年10月 、证人今年1月 、曝门今年8月涉嫌性侵三名女性 ，迪性队友其中包括一名未滿18歲的侵当未成年女孩 。門迪被警方逮捕後一直被關押在英國利物浦的晚和HMP Altcourse監獄中 ，他曾三次提出保釋申請但都被法庭拒絕。聚会警方據《太陽報》報道 ，或求門迪在今年8月23日涉嫌的格当那樁強奸案前 ，一直和格拉利什 、馬赫雷斯在酒吧聚會。
8月23日淩晨 ，門迪涉嫌在自己位於柴郡的家中性侵一名17歲的未成年女孩 。而就在案件發生前幾個小時 ，有人看到門迪 、格拉利什 、馬赫雷斯一起在曼徹斯特的一家酒吧內聚會 。當地警方有可能因此聯係格拉利什和馬赫雷斯 ，要求他倆在明年1月24日法庭開庭審判門迪性侵案時作為證人出庭 。不過馬赫雷斯的發言人表示 ：“馬赫雷斯目前還不是證人 ，也沒有被當做證人對待 。”
一位知情人士向《太陽報》表示 ：“他們一開始在一家酒吧內聚會 ，當晚還連續去了幾個不同的場所 。不過格拉利什和馬赫雷斯當晚沒有一起去門迪的家中 。不幸的是 ，在酒吧開始的一個有趣的夜晚卻以一些非常嚴重的指控告終 。當門迪被捕並受到強奸指控時，曼城的每個人都感到震驚 。”
今年8月6日 ，格拉利什以一億英鎊的巨額轉會費加盟曼城 。也許8月23日門迪和馬赫雷斯隻是想用一次聚會來歡迎新隊友的到來 ，但沒想到門迪在聚會回家後就卷入了性侵案件 。
