Do our grandparents really know what's best?

They're older and wiser, and they have no shortage of advice to give. Yet, how useful are their tips? There's so much more accessible information about beauty and skincare now, leading us to wonder if their advice is still relevant.

We gathered a list of tips, complete with feedback on whether or not they are all that effective, by asking the staff here at Mashable what advice their grandparents had to give.

Tips that work well for us

"You gotta moisturize! Oil of Olay kept my 87-year-old grandma lookin’ ageless!"

"Always use moisturizer on your neck as well as your face."

"Eyebrows must be trained."

"Don't pick at your acne."

"My grandpa would put salt on a mosquito bite to stop the itching. It works, but he would go a little crazy. Once at a restaurant, he was pouring salt from the shaker onto his skin."

"Wash your hands way more than you think you need to."
