從當年亞足聯榜首 ，中超中国到現如今急速滑落至東亞大區第7位 ，球队中超聯賽在積分排名競爭的仅剩大幅退步是不正常的 ，也事出有因 。个亚冠名其中一個重要原因便是额被受不可抗力客觀因素影響 ，中超各代表隊連續在2021 、2022賽季選派以替補或年輕球員為班底的預備隊或二隊參加亞冠賽事 。以本賽季亞冠為例，代表中超參賽的山東泰山隊 、廣州隊在亞冠小組賽中分別取得了1平5負 、6連敗的糟糕戰績 ，從而無緣躋身淘汰賽 ，這一成績與上個賽季中超球隊的表現如出一轍 。
由於兩支中超球隊本賽季亞冠僅累計收獲了0.5個技術積分 ，因此不僅被此前在東亞大區聯賽排名榜上領先的日本J聯賽、韓國K聯賽進一步拉開差距 ，還被其他會員協會後來居上完成反超 。如中國香港聯賽就憑借本協會（中國香港足總）俱樂部隊在本賽季相對優異的成績 ，排名上升至亞足聯第6位 ，東亞大區第3位 ，其亞冠入場券自然相應增多。
