中國足協遲遲沒有明確2021賽季中超聯賽開始時間，苏州赛中江蘇省足協官方微信公眾號倒是成中超女先行一步 ，透露了新賽季中超將於4月20日開賽 。国足
江蘇省足協微信公眾號在昨天推送的球焦信息中顯示 ：新賽季將從4月20日開賽 ，一直打到12月5日，点承全程分成三個階段 ，办强每隊需要打滿30輪 。足奥第一階段賽事分成兩個小段 ，预赛中間的苏州赛中間歇期留給國家隊備戰世界杯亞洲區預選賽40強賽 ，總共打14輪比賽 。成中超女第一階段將采用分組雙循環賽製，国足廣州和蘇州賽區將分別承接8支中超球隊的球焦訓練 、比賽 、点承食宿 。办强蘇州賽區的足奥比賽用地依然是蘇州市體育中心 、蘇州奧林匹克體育中心以及昆山市體育中心 。
今年 ，蘇州無疑將成為中國足球的焦點 。除了承辦中超聯賽外 ，蘇州還將承辦2022年世界杯亞洲區預選賽40強賽A組比賽 、2021中超聯賽及女足奧預賽附加賽 。比賽從4月份一直持續到12月 ，這對球場的草皮是一次嚴峻的考驗。
現在距離新賽季中超聯賽開賽還有一個多月的時間，中國足協有可能會在公布三級聯賽準入球隊後 ，宣布聯賽的開賽時間以及兩個賽區的分組。從目前的情況看 ，江蘇隊和天津津門虎都將無法獲得中超準入資格 ，滄州雄獅和浙江隊將替補獲得新賽季中超的參賽資格 。
