首個對手澳大利亞的近況並不好 ，隊長馬修·萊基明確表示不去多哈 ，因為疫情政策隔離 ，他不想離家太久，目前澳大利亞仍未公布參加12強賽的大名單 。除此之外澳超金靴麥克拉倫和左腳蹠骨骨折的博列洛 ，也都大概率無緣9月份比賽 ，這對國足無疑是個好消息 。
泰山隊此次一共有6人隨隊前往多哈 ，其中金敬道 、吳興涵和劉彬彬都有望競爭主力位置，三人在40強賽時都有進球入賬，而且表現不俗 。王大雷 、徐新和郭田雨想要進入首發有一定難度 ，他們的目標是爭取上場時間 。小將郭田雨備受期待 ，在對陣日本 、沙特、越南等隊時，特點鮮明的郭田雨有望得到出場機會 。
