西班牙當地時間4月9日下午 ，皇马皇家馬德裏俱樂部發表公告 ：現任俱樂部主席弗洛倫蒂諾-佩雷斯已經遞交了今年主席大選的官方競選申請 。
皇馬選舉委員會負責人何塞-曼努埃爾-德-卡洛斯-格拉烏召開例行會議 ，佛爷審議了最新的已递皇馬俱樂部參選人的申請情況。現任主席弗洛倫蒂諾和他的交主董事會已經遞交了參選申請 ，副主席愛德華多-費爾南德斯-德-巴拉斯已經代表弗洛倫蒂諾遞交了材料 。席竞选申隨後皇馬大選委員會將申請複核要求的请盼期電子郵件回複給了弗洛倫蒂諾 。
皇馬主席弗洛倫蒂諾如今算是开第邁出了正式參加大選的第一步 。而皇馬俱樂部在幾年前修改了競選章程，次任競選皇馬主席的皇马候選人必須要遞交俱樂部15%的年度預算作為保證金 ，且必須是官方個人財產 ，2021年參選的佛爷話大約是1.25億歐元 。此外皇馬主席必須是已递西班牙國籍和皇馬20年的會員。相比於後兩個條件 ，交主保證金這一條就足以KO很多人 。席竞选申
而弗洛倫蒂諾此前累計有4次是沒有競爭對手的情況下連任的 ，如果此次弗洛倫蒂諾連任的話則是開始自己的第6個主席任期 。值得一提的是 ：如今弗洛倫蒂諾正在進行伯納烏翻修工程 ，在轉會市場和更衣室續約問題上也有自己的規劃 ，如果弗洛倫蒂諾今夏沒能連任，對於皇馬的延續性發展來說是個打擊。
