北京時間9月19日晚 ，热刺英超勁旅熱刺在官網宣布，传奇球隊隊史最佳射手吉米-格裏夫斯去世 ，射手享年81歲。吉米熱刺在官網對於吉米-格裏夫斯的哀悼去世進行了哀悼 。
熱刺在官網如此寫道 ：“得知偉大的热刺熱刺傳奇吉米-格裏夫斯去世，我們感到非常悲痛 。传奇在此悲傷時刻 ，射手我們向吉米的吉米家人和朋友表示最深切的問候 。”
格裏夫斯出生在1940年 ，哀悼在切爾西青訓營成長 ，热刺並在1957-1961年期間為切爾西一線隊踢球 ，传奇其中在1960-1961賽季 ，射手格裏夫斯打入41個聯賽進球 ，吉米也成為了切爾西單賽季聯賽的進球王 。
1961年的夏天 ，格裏夫斯離開切爾西加盟米蘭，在米蘭的半個賽季出場14次打入9個進球 。而就在同年的12月份，格裏夫斯重返英格蘭 ，他加盟了熱刺，當時的轉會費為9.9999萬英鎊 ，這也是當時英格蘭足壇的轉會費紀錄 。
效力熱刺將近十年時間 ，格裏夫斯代表球隊各項賽事出戰379場比賽，打進266球 ，是隊史第一射手 ，其中聯賽出場321次攻入220球。1970年的3月份，格裏夫斯離開熱刺加盟了西漢姆聯 ，並在1970-1971賽季後退役 。他在老英甲共打入357球 ，是英格蘭頂級聯賽曆史最佳射手。
