Donald Trump can't catch a break, mostly because Donald Trump is extremely bad at being President of the United States.
Trump took to Twitter on Saturday morning with a triumphant message after U.S., French, and British precision strikes hit key targets in Syria on Friday evening. "A perfectly executed strike," he boasted, ending the message with an ill-conceived: "Mission accomplished!"

Bush, who declared "mission accomplished" in 2003 to mark the end of major combat operations in Iraq. Unfortunately for Bush (and the rest of the world), the violence went on and casualties continued to mount, in greater numbers than before, over the subsequent years.

Even though Trump is using the phrase now in a different context -- no one, (probably) not even him, thinks Syria's chemical weapon capabilities are kaput -- the irony was too great for social media to handle.
Twitter kindly stepped up to remind the current president where his administration has gone wrong and what a "mission accomplished" actually looks like.

Of course, it's been a busy week elsewhere in Trumpworld. The president's personal attorney, Michael Cohen, was served with a search warrant and had his home, hotel room, office, and more searched by federal investigators in New York.
While the action doesn't specifically implicate Trump, it's likely to create complications for his ongoing troubles with Robert Mueller's investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election. Not to mention pending legal actions brought forward by Stephanie Clifford and Karen McDougal.
All of which is to say: Trump's "Mission accomplished!" boast may be accurate after all.
