2022賽季亞冠昨晚上演首輪小組賽，以預備隊和足校小將為班底的此困廣州隊青年軍盡管拚盡全力 ，但無奈個人能力和整體實力與對手相差懸殊 ，境下艰难最終在客場以0比5負於柔佛新山 。广州而山東泰山青年軍以0比7慘敗於大邱FC，队青追平中超球隊在亞冠賽場的年军能够最大敗仗 。

廣州隊青年軍的完赛主力框架以U21球員為主 ，大部分球員甚至連國內的粤媒已胜中乙聯賽都沒踢過 。受疫情影響 ，此困過去兩年幾乎沒有參加過任何正式比賽，境下艰难以此陣容出戰亞洲最高水平的广州亞冠聯賽 ，廣州青年軍麵臨的队青困難和挑戰可想而知 ，而首場比賽更是年军能够難上加難 。
主帥潘勇赫排出451的完赛防守陣型，首發名單除26歲後衛關浩津和28歲後腰楊鑫外 ，粤媒已胜為清一色的2000年後出生的球員 。廣州青年軍在進攻端隻保留高中鋒和韶麟一人 ，希望以“人海戰術”囤積後防，伺機打反擊。
柔佛新山主帥莫拉賽前就表示不會輕視廣州隊的年輕球員 ，而首發名單則祭出四名外援齊出場的最強陣，對亞冠小組賽首勝誌在必得 。
開場前15分鍾 ，緊張成為廣州隊青年軍的關鍵詞 。缺少大賽經驗和實戰曆練的廣州隊青年軍無法在短時間內適應亞冠氛圍 ，始終難以跟上對手的攻防轉換節奏 ，拿球 、傳球畏首畏尾。第9分鍾廣州隊的城門便告失守 ，隨後緊張的情緒在場上蔓延 。第12分鍾 ，麵對對方前鋒弗雷斯蒂耶裏禁區內的抽射 ，門將何立攀做出精彩撲救，但在二次拿球中不慎出現失誤自擺烏龍 。

度過了前15分鍾的困難時段後 ，廣州隊青年軍在下半場的表現有明顯改觀 。出球更加果斷 、自信 ，中後場防守陣型保持緊湊 ，拚搶也更為積極，可惜關浩津在第69分鍾染紅 ，少打一人之下無力扭轉敗局 ，最終以0比5完敗。
柔佛新山的進攻以中路滲透和邊中結合為主 ，五粒進球全部來自邊中結合，巴西前鋒貝格鬆上演帽子戲法 。全場比賽廣州隊控球率僅為18.3% ，射門2比24，真正有威脅的射門為中鋒和韶麟在第17分鍾的中場吊射 。
雖然經曆一場潰敗，但在如此困境下 ，廣州隊青年軍能夠艱難完賽已是勝利 。這是每一名年輕球員成長階段必須經曆的過程，同時也是必須繳納的高昂學費 ，每一場亞冠對於他們來說都是一種磨煉 。
戰罷柔佛新山後 ，廣州隊將在18日和21日分別迎戰本組實力更強的川崎前鋒和蔚山現代 ，麵臨的挑戰將更為艱巨 。如何以最佳心態做好防守 ，打出精氣神 ，不怯場 ，不懼強敵 ，踢出廣州足球不屈不撓的風格 ，無疑更為關鍵 。
