事實上 ，彩虹袖標在五大聯賽屢見不鮮，特別是在英超賽場，大量球隊的隊長都會選擇佩戴該款隊長袖標 ，也有不少球員選用彩虹的鞋帶 ，這是對英國人權組織“斯通沃爾”的彩虹（彩虹標誌表示關注LGBT權益 ，也就是女同 、男同 、雙性和變性人權益）鞋帶運動表示支持 。
正當外界都為德國隊和諾伊爾捏一把汗時 ，德國國家隊的社交媒體（官方推特）發布消息 ，稱歐足聯對諾伊爾彩虹袖標的調查已經停止 。德國國家隊官推表示 ，這一調查現在已經停止，歐足聯認為彩虹袖標被看作是支持多元化的象征 ，因此這並非壞事。
