而在此之前 ，法國很多媒體都曾爆料 ，法國足協準備在世界杯後換掉德尚，轉而聘請執教履曆更好也更年輕的齊達內來執掌球隊，而齊達內為了接班德尚 ，已經足足等了近兩年的時間 ，在離開皇馬的帥位後 ，多家豪門都向他拋去過橄欖枝 ，大巴黎還為他開出了令人難以想象的天價合約 。但最終齊達內都選擇了拒絕 ，因為他的夢想 ，就是率領法國隊捧起大力神杯。
