7月12日傍晚 ，青岛中超青島足球俱樂部官方發文 ，队致道歉致函《東方體育日報》，函东稱其相關報道嚴重失實 ，体投艇求並要求公開澄清和道歉 ：
關於《東方體育日報》對我俱樂部相關報道嚴重失實的资人函
東方體育日報 ：
貴報在2021年7月12日A05版刊登了我俱樂部的相關報道 ，該報道與事實嚴重不符 ，未上其中“一筆3000萬讚助費在不久前打入俱樂部的半年賬戶 ，但青島隊的购游教練 、球員依然無人收到高層多次承諾補發的澄清工資 ，這筆3000萬的青岛讚助款很可能早已被挪作他用” 、“有消息人士指出 ，队致道歉隊內如今岌岌可危 ，函东俱樂部董事長王澤楷卻好似‘兩耳不聞窗外事’ ，体投艇求他在今年上半年購入一艘豪華遊艇出海遊玩”等報道內容嚴重失實 。资人
首先 ，未上俱樂部投資人從未在上半年購入遊艇 ，現有的“黃海集團”號遊艇隸屬於青島黃海製藥有限責任公司 ，早在2015年5月就已經在相關部門登記注冊備案 。該遊艇主要用於黃海製藥的商務活動，並多次參與集團大型活動的商務接待，這與報道中所提上半年購入豪華遊艇之事嚴重不符 。
其次 ，俱樂部投資人對於目前俱樂部工作十分關心，經常與俱樂部高層 、球隊主教練以及球員進行多渠道的溝通 ，根本不存在俱樂部董事長無心過問俱樂部事宜的問題 。至於挪用讚助款的報道更是無稽之談 ，俱樂部目前運行正常 ，球隊將於7月14日出發前往廣州賽區參加中超聯賽第二階段的比賽 。
貴報作為一家綜合性體育類日報 ，存在信息來源嚴重不真實 ，對發布內容不嚴格核實 ，導致報道失實 ，甚至故意編造虛假內容 ，影射俱樂部投資人 ，已經嚴重違反了新聞工作者職業道德，對我俱樂部聲譽造成了極其惡劣的影響 。
在此我俱樂部提出嚴重抗議 ，要求《東方體育日報》對該報道的相關內容進行公開澄清和道歉 ，並要求相關轉載媒體停止一切侵害我俱樂部聲譽的行為 ，對此 ，我俱樂部保留追究法律責任並追討法律賠償的權利 。
