賈秀全補充道：“出線形勢不同，目標對手不同 ，位置打法不同 ，對用人的要求也會不同 。我們是想給中生代球員更多機會，讓她們在奧運會上展示出中國女足精神 、形象 、技戰術素養 。較奧運會預選賽 ，這次球隊人員產生了一些重要變化 ，比如前鋒唐佳麗，老將馬君 、婁佳惠都落選了 ，而一些新麵孔進入到名單中 。”
新華社記者看到了南京醫科大學第三附屬醫院6月26日對唐佳麗傷情的診斷記錄 ，上麵寫著“膝關節痛左膝滑膜炎 ，左膝內側副韌帶及髕韌帶損傷” ，建議“患肢休息為主，避免劇烈活動” 。談到唐佳麗落選 ，賈秀全表示：“唐佳麗因傷無緣奧運會很遺憾 ，但她的職業生涯還長 ，希望她能好好養傷。”
而對於馬君 、婁佳惠等老將的落選 ，賈秀全說這是教練組經過慎重考慮 、權衡利弊後 ，做出的痛苦決定 。“我衷心感謝每個階段 ，每名入選國家隊的隊員 ，她們都為中國女足做出了巨大貢獻 。中國女足的複興 ，女足精神 、女足文化和技戰術傳承，要靠幾代人努力。”
