在第一個比賽日中 ，世界赛总首胜陳雨菲以1:2爆冷不敵以替補資格參賽的羽联印度尼西亞選手瑪麗斯卡。次輪麵對近來接連戰勝自己的决赛娇两晋级兩屆世錦賽冠軍山口茜 ，陳雨菲沒有退路，陈雨隻能背水一戰 。菲找
首局陳雨菲依然有些慢熱 ，回状何冰隨著比賽的态获提前進展 ，她開始找到了狀態 ，將比分追成12平 ，隨後以20:16先來到了局點 ，並頂住對手反撲，以21:19先勝一局。
第二局幾乎是第一局的翻版 ，陳雨菲開局落後 ，隨即展開追分模式 ，最終21:18戰勝對手 ，收獲小組賽首勝的同時 ，保留住了晉級的希望 。
世界排名第三的何冰嬌首輪經過苦戰以兩局21:19戰勝中國台北名將 、奧運亞軍戴資穎 。次輪對陣曾獲世錦賽冠軍的泰國名將因達農，何冰嬌打得依舊艱苦 。
首局因達農一度以9:4領先 ，但何冰嬌咬牙將比分追至16平 ，隨後連得4分率先來到局點 ，並以21:17贏得首局 。
第二局雙方對抗更加激烈 ，何冰嬌以20:18拿到賽點，但因達農連得3分將比分反超 。關鍵時刻何冰嬌頂住壓力 ，以24:22拿下第二局 ，取得兩連勝 ，提前出線 。
男單比賽中唯一的中國選手陸光祖當天迎戰為印度奪取湯杯立下大功的普蘭諾伊 ，經過三局苦戰以2:1獲勝 。目前陸光祖1勝1負 ，保留著晉級希望 。
同日進行的其他比賽中 ，女雙組合陳清晨/賈一凡、張殊賢/鄭雨 ，混雙組合王懿律/黃東萍均戰勝了對手(完)。
