由於對主裁判的铲翻裁判判罰不滿 ，威廉-裏貝羅先是怒踢一個飛鏟放倒了主裁判 ，然後對著倒地的后脑昏厥主裁左腳爆頭 。威廉-裏貝羅的涉嫌左腳 ，重重踢在了主裁判的谋杀後腦勺上 。後腦勺是被逮捕人體最脆弱的部位之一 ，這裏受到重擊的铲翻裁判話有可能會導致死亡。在被爆頭之後 ，怒踢主裁判立刻昏迷 ，后脑昏厥並被救護車送往醫院 。幾小時後，主裁判才從昏迷中醒了過來 。
這場比賽很快被取消 ，威廉-裏貝羅則被警方控製住 。不久之後 ，威廉-裏貝羅因為涉嫌謀殺未遂而被警方逮捕 。等待他的 ，將會是法律的嚴懲 。
類似的一幕 ，在十幾年前佩佩身上曾經上演過 。在皇馬對陣赫塔菲時 ，佩佩最後時刻禁區內推倒卡斯克羅被吹點球。情緒失控的佩佩先是對著卡斯克羅的腿部輪了一腳，然後又一腳輪到了卡斯克羅的背上。由於這次“鞭屍”舉動 ，佩佩在西甲中被禁賽10場 。如果將時間線放得再遠點的話 ，皇馬名宿華尼托曾在歐冠中腳剁馬特烏斯頭部 ，並因此在歐戰中被禁賽5年 。
