北京時間6月16日淩晨3點 ，刘越利将力本屆歐洲杯死亡之組F組的匈牙悬崖首輪小組賽拉開帷幕。首先登場的卫冕是衛冕冠軍葡萄牙對陣匈牙利 ，本場比賽的冠军場地是在布達佩斯（匈牙利的首都） ，匈牙利主場作戰 。逼到边葡此外 ，萄牙本場比賽也是靠定允許球迷全部進場觀看，幾乎滿員的刘越利将力上座率頓時讓人們嗅到了久違的歐洲杯味道 。本場比賽匈牙利也確實讓衛冕冠軍嚐到了很多苦頭 。匈牙悬崖
全場比賽 ，卫冕猶如打了雞血一般的冠军匈牙利在防守方麵表現的十分堅韌，上半場更是逼到边葡在多次五五開的拚搶中占盡優勢 ，評論員婁一晨和前國足劉越更是萄牙將這些稱之為“肉搏戰” 。葡萄牙僅有的靠定幾次射門也被古拉西奇擋出 ，而C羅門前的刘越利将力射門竟然打飛 。下半場開始後 ，匈牙利的表現依舊和上半場並沒有什麽兩樣 。他們曾經一度攻入過一個進球 ，但是被判越位在先 ，進球無效。不過第83分鍾 ，格雷羅一個帶有運氣成份的折射入網 ，徹底擊潰了匈牙利 。隨後C羅梅開二度 ，幫助葡萄牙拿到了必須的3分 。
賽後，婁一晨和劉越也對本場比賽進行了點評 。婁一晨表示 ：“這支平民球隊匈牙利足以贏得任何人的尊重 ，他們在場上敢打敢拚 ，一度將衛冕冠軍逼到了懸崖邊上。下半場他們不像前45分鍾 ，基本退守在本方半場 ，而是有了一些主動出擊，這也讓他們製造了一些機會 ，並且完成了一個進球（雖然是越位進球） 。隻不過格雷羅的進球徹底擊潰了他們的心理防線和信念。”
前國腳劉越則分析了葡萄牙進球並獲勝的原因，“麵對匈牙利咄咄逼人的防守 ，葡萄牙並沒有慌了手腳 ，他們是依靠硬實力和定力拿下了本場比賽的勝利 。在形勢膠著甚至比較危急的時刻 ，老帥桑托斯也依舊是按部就班進行了換人調整 。而換上來的拉法-席爾瓦和三個進球都有關係 ，桑謝斯也是策劃製造了第二個進球 。”
