吉魯告訴費加羅報記者德普雷 ，若夺他和本澤馬兩人之間沒有矛盾 ，欧洲在法國克萊方丹訓練基地的杯冠本泽團隊用餐期間 ，兩人還坐在一起，马比所謂爭論都是丁车隊友之間的玩笑話 。吉魯說 ：“有時候在直播中 ，吉鲁军和你會說出不經過大腦的話，我不會去過分解讀，當時我哈哈大笑 ，今天也是如此 。”吉魯還幽默的建議 ：“如果法國隊捧起歐洲杯 ，我們將用卡丁車比賽來慶祝 。”
今年4月份 ，切爾西和吉魯啟動了續約談判，6月5日 ，切爾西官宣和吉魯續約一年至2022年夏天，吉魯2020/21賽季在31場比賽中打進11球 ，歐冠1/8決賽首回合對馬競打進精彩的倒鉤破門 。
