在北京時間6月8日淩晨結束的武磊40強賽中菲之戰中 ，憑借武磊破僵的帮助把握點球破門及他策動的有效進攻 ，中國隊以2比0完勝菲律賓隊，李铁從而緊緊把握住爭奪12強賽入場券的缓解主動權 。連續2場比賽榮膺最佳球員的执教主动武磊是這個夜晚國足最耀眼的明星 ，他在為球隊摘得勝果的压力同時，在很大程度上也幫助器重他的国足主教練李鐵緩解了執教壓力 。
5月30日 ，晋级國足在蘇州以7球大勝關島隊後 ，武磊以點球為球隊首開紀錄並梅開二度武磊當選當場比賽最佳球員 。帮助把握在賽後新聞發布會上 ，李铁國足主帥李鐵也就媒體記者有關武磊留洋遭遇困境的缓解問題，表達了對愛徒的执教主动力挺 。他甚至不客氣地請質疑武磊的压力人“閉嘴” 。雖然李鐵的国足言辭表達方式引發了一定爭議 ，但能夠看出 ，他對武磊的信任絲毫不打折扣 。

出現在中 、菲比賽的武磊依然活力四射 。對於在本場比賽立下頭功 ，武磊保持了慣有的謙遜 。他說 ，“正如李指導所說，這個時候就是比意誌力 ，這種高溫天氣，誰更能跑 ，誰更能咬牙 ，誰就能獲勝 。雙方第一場交鋒時 ，我們在他們主場 ，他們是5後衛 ，防守比較密集 ，這一場我們也預料到了 ，他們想要取得比較好的成績 ，進攻上投入更多一些 ，進攻也更加積極 。”
武磊還重申集體力量的偉大 。他說 ：“不管什麽比賽 ，不管主場客場 ，所有的比賽都是大家一起完成 ，我們是一個集體 ，不是靠某一個球員 ，不管勝利還是失利 ，都是大家在一起 。”
比賽結束後 ，一位不願透露姓名的國足人士表示 ，“留洋球員的能力有目共睹 ，武磊值得國足擁有 。後麵的比賽 ，他還是最值得信賴的球員 。”
