意大利與西班牙的高基歐洲杯半決賽已經結束 ，最終意大利通過點球大戰淘汰了對手殺入了決賽 。耶萨右脚基耶薩在常規比賽時間內為意大利先拔頭籌 ，两射打入意大利全場唯一運動戰進球的全门他 ，也在賽後被歐足聯評為本場最佳球員 。框内
基耶薩上個賽季加盟了尤文圖斯 ，兜射他打入8個意甲進球助攻8次 ，美画製造了16個進球 ，效率成為了尤文圖斯最大的高基驚喜 。憑借著出色的耶萨右脚發揮，基耶薩也得到了曼奇尼的两射召喚，成功入選本屆歐洲杯的全门意大利大名單 。
但是框内在小組賽階段 ，基耶薩並不是兜射主力球員 ，三場小組賽僅替補出戰了120分鍾的比賽 。淘汰賽對戰奧地利 ，基耶薩同樣沒有首發 ，但是替補出戰的他卻在加時賽為意大利打入一球 ，最終幫助意大利晉級。
這個進球也讓曼奇尼改變了主意，基耶薩贏得了主力位置 。在意大利淘汰比利時的1/4決賽中 ，基耶薩踢滿了全場。本場與西班牙的半決賽 ，基耶薩也得到了首發的機會。由於西班牙控球占優 ，基耶薩在右邊路得到了機會並不多 。但是在下半場比賽，基耶薩改踢左邊路 ，在這一側，基耶薩發威了 。
比賽第60分鍾 ，意大利反擊 ，基耶薩長途奔襲到禁區內左側，接到隊友的傳球後稍作調整 ，內切後的右側兜射，皮球劃了一道美妙的弧線飛入球門右上角 ，這個進球幫助逆境下的意大利取得了1-0的優勢 ，也極大的提振了意大利球員的信心 。
雖然基耶薩在加時賽階段因為抽筋被替換下場，但是在球場上 ，基耶薩不僅打入一球而且交出了靚麗的數據 。兩次射門全部在門框範圍以內，也是隊內射正次數最多的球員 。兩次過人成功 ，隊內第一，同時還有一次成功的頭球爭頂 。
