意大利與西班牙的高基歐洲杯半決賽已經結束 ，最終意大利通過點球大戰淘汰了對手殺入了決賽 。耶萨右脚基耶薩在常規比賽時間內為意大利先拔頭籌 ，两射打入意大利全場唯一運動戰進球的全门他 ，也在賽後被歐足聯評為本場最佳球員 。框内

這個進球也讓曼奇尼改變了主意，基耶薩贏得了主力位置 。在意大利淘汰比利時的1/4決賽中 ，基耶薩踢滿了全場 。本場與西班牙的半決賽，基耶薩也得到了首發的機會 。由於西班牙控球占優，基耶薩在右邊路得到了機會並不多。但是在下半場比賽 ，基耶薩改踢左邊路 ，在這一側 ，基耶薩發威了 。
比賽第60分鍾 ，意大利反擊 ，基耶薩長途奔襲到禁區內左側 ，接到隊友的傳球後稍作調整 ，內切後的右側兜射 ，皮球劃了一道美妙的弧線飛入球門右上角，這個進球幫助逆境下的意大利取得了1-0的優勢 ，也極大的提振了意大利球員的信心 。
雖然基耶薩在加時賽階段因為抽筋被替換下場 ，但是在球場上 ，基耶薩不僅打入一球而且交出了靚麗的數據 。兩次射門全部在門框範圍以內 ，也是隊內射正次數最多的球員 。兩次過人成功 ，隊內第一 ，同時還有一次成功的頭球爭頂 。
