對於歸化球員的使用，是外界對李鐵最大的質疑 。下半場阿蘭 、洛國富和艾克森連續登場 ，四名歸化球員場上共存的畫麵再度上演 。對壘日本時，正是阿蘭和洛國富的替補登場 ，使國足的進攻首次讓對手感受到壓力。與沙特一戰 ，從下半場開場到第68分鍾對方門將卡爾尼受傷離場，堪稱國足本次12強賽以來進攻最“寫意”的23分鍾 。阿蘭和洛國富的連線破門倒是其次 ，更關鍵的是兩人拿球 、帶球突破和傳球的能力和自信心要明顯強於場上其他國腳 。一旦解決了中前場的傳控問題 ，即使後防線隻有4人 ，但進攻端給沙特持續施壓，國足的防守壓力迎刃而解 。
李鐵的前國腳身份和師從裏皮的經曆 ，被認為是本土主帥的“天花板” 、國足帥位上的不二人選，但陣容與戰術上的搖擺不定，用人一根筋地信任顏駿淩 、於大寶 、張稀哲甚至是武磊，最終交出了高昂的學費 。
